Product 1 (Music Video) : 

My brief is to create a music video that is at least three minutes long and fits in line with the genre convention of beggar’s group. It must feature at least two different social groups , mise en scene and have a variety of camera shots.For my music video I plan to use media language to create meaning for the audience by using a narrative in the music video that complements the lyrics . To do this I shall use visual metaphors and make sure that the editing matches with the rhythm of the music so that it can emphasise the emotion of the song. This will be used to appeal to the target demographic of teenagers and above as they are most likely to be more engaged with the band , considering the group’s image , and are more likely to resonate with the song . Having an independent , committed and innovative band working on the music video links to Beggars Group as they celebrate the independence of their artists and enjoy seeing creativity in other’s work . To achieve this I will use a mise en scene of dark lighting for the narrative , and bright lighting for the performance shots to highlight the contrast between the two. My music video will have intertextual links to other songs such as Bastille by Pompeii and Run boy Run by WoodKid. My video intends to represent those who want to break free from constraints and find a sense of escapism. I hope to promote the idea of freedom and also the idea of overcoming challenges. I intend to link to the theme of courage for the audience because it can impact them in a positive way. I plan to film in the woods so that I can capture the right atmosphere of feeling trapped at the beginning of the music video . I also want to film against a makeshift studio backdrop so that my performance shots can look realistic . I plan to use appropriate codes and conventions of the music video to make sure that the narrative is clear and is visually appealing so that the audience will know what’s going on . I will edit to make sure that each shot is in its rightful place and is placed correctly so that the pace of the music video matches with the shots  . Lyrics will be interpreted through the narrative which means that all scenes must be interconnected in order for it to make sense.

 

Product 2 (Website): 

To create meaning for the same audience on the band’s website , I plan to use a consistent colour palette , a notable font that aligns with the band’s image and reinforces their identity and clear images of the band members so that audiences can have their expectations of the band met . By having a visually appealing website design , the band can be reflected positively towards the audience . Also , by having contact information displayed clearly it makes it easier for others in the industry to reach out and displays a good image of the band and their company. By integrating social media and other links on the band’s website , their online presence is maintained and it ensures that they can stay connected with their fanbase . The website also showcases the band’s music video and biography , not only conveying the band’s style but also their origins , identity and milestones.
